If you're like me you find yourself wandering aimlessly through retail electronics stores like Best Buy, trying to find the best deal on even the smallest thing. Truth is I usually end up leaving in frustration and continuing the search for several more hours on the internet.
So is Apple's latest MacBook a good buy for people in the market for a new notebook?
According to an online video ad, Apple has redesigned their signature notebook to be housed in a single piece of aluminum, called the "unibody". The MacBook also boasts an LED backlit screen, a toxin-free manufacturing process (no arsenic, mercury, BFRs, PVCs, and smaller packaging), a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and a 13.3 inch screen.
Most knowledgeable consumers know that the best deal isn't always the one with the smallest price tag. If you buy a shotty nameless piece of merchandise, there's a good chance that it will have less features, break down much quicker, and most likely not be backed by a decent warranty. That's more money spent, and proof that a wise consumer needs to find the middle road between sticker price and value.
Notebooks are no exception. People want to find low prices while adhering to a certain standard of performance and reliability. So is the new MacBook worth it?
Putting all green-friendly labels and shiny bells and whistles aside, the new Apple MacBook is a solid notebook with some impressive specs- atleast for the price. With a starting price of $1299, thrifty shoppers looking for a complete bundle of style, performance, and price in their next notebook may have found just what they're looking for.
Here's a promo video about making the MacBook, recorded by SlashGear from the Apple's October 14th unveiling.
