Email Notification For New Comments In Blogger

Posted on 10/25/2007 20:50 PM | Link | Post Comment

If you have the habit of posting comments on blogs, then you might have come across email notification checkbox in some blog or the other. You'll receive follow-up comments through email, if you select this option.

This feature has been available for self-hosted WordPress blogs as a plugin since a long time, but those using Blogger need not feel green-eyed because Blogger have just added the very same feature. Prior to this, the only way to track new comments was by subscribing to the comment feeds. This was not favorable for most users as it would increase the subscription count, and they are useful only for a limited time.

I don't have a crystal ball, but I can see this feature coming on WordPress.com (just a random guess). Blogger can add a lot of new improvements to their comment system. I'd like to see a neat way to quote comments, or maybe directly adding comments from the post page, without being taken to a new page.
