That "signature" is a logo I paid a great deal to have custom-made for me some years back by Tommy Carnase, perhaps Madison Avenue's premier typographic designer of the great "manual age" of graphic design from the 1960s through the 1990s. Some of Carnase's fonts have become virtually ubiquitous -- most notably Avant Garde Gothic.

In my early years when I was a designer myself, I idolized Carnase, but couldn't come close to his skill or artistry - and I knew I never would or could, so I got into something else (trading and investing). When I had "made it" in that domain, I got in touch with Carnase, then in semi-retirement, and commissioned the logo.
