Just came back from dinner and a movie at the mall. In 20 years here in Silicon Valley, in busts and in booms, I've never seen it more crowded. Looked for a parking spot for 15 minutes (must be all those subprime borrowers thrown out of their homes, living in their cars in the lot). Had to shove my way to the restaurant through thick throngs (all 8,000 net payroll job-losers from August must have been killing time milling around and spending their unemployment checks).
