Fight The Aarp!

I've gotten a mountain of mail on my NRO column about tearing up your AARP membership card, to protest their position on tax hikes. Here's my favorite so far (sender's name withheld):
I decided sometime ago that I'd never join them, and I get a small amount of satisfaction every time I receive an invitation from them (I turned 50 6 months ago).

Why do I feel satisfaction? Because I print out a copy of the following, and send it in their postage-paid envelope to them:

"Almost 50 years ago Robert Heinlein (in his book on politics which was reprinted in the 90s as Take Back Your Government) said the problem with having old people volunteer for political campaigns was that most such people were very greedy, and had the attitude that they deserved goodies at other folks' expense because they'd been around for so long."

"I'd thought Heinlein's opinion was a little harsh, but have since seen that it is true of far too many senior citizens."

"Your organization is the embodiment of that attitude. Even though senior citizens are the wealthiest demographic group, your organization is forever finding new reasons to take trillions of dollars from working people to give to your constituents, so they can go on cruises while working families are struggling to pay the rent."

"Rest assured, when I reach the age where I need some sort of organization like yours, I'll ally myself with one of the conservative and/or Christian alternatives, not with your greedy bunch."

I haven't received a reply from them yet, and apparently they don't consider my comments to be harsh enough to kick me off their mailing list, since I still receive invitations from them. Meanwhile, I'm glad that someone more articulate than me (i.e.., you) is making a public case for ditching the greedy fogies.
