ETF PowerRatings Launches, Bringing Simplicity and Accuracy to Trading

This month TradingMarkets.com launched their ETF PowerRatings system. It's a spinoff of Stock PowerRatings, a popular rating tool designed to let traders see at a glance which stocks are likely to advance or decline within a set period of time.

I've played around with the new ETF PowerRatings and it is really nice. The new charting system is a graphical improvement on the previous version that delivers more of an informational punch while maintaining the same level of simplicity that made its predecessor so successful.

As an editor for TradingMarkets, I do get a lot of practice time on PowerRatings, and have plenty of insight to the inner workings and features of the system. While this is no longer in the beta testing phase, we are still open to suggestions on how the service can be expanded and improved.

Again though, the major draw of ETF PowerRatings is the simplicity. All the work is done for you, all the research and backtesting (done on thousands of ETFs all the way back to 2003) is fitted into a meticulous algorithm. In the end though, all you have to pay attention to is one number.

For example, if you were to see an ETF with a perfect rating of "10", then the likelihood of it going up in price is nearly 80%. That's impressive to say the least, especially these days when so many systems are based on trend following methods that only chase stocks and have been proven to yield much lower results.
