PICTURED BELOW: The Retail Index ($RLX +1.13%) charged into new all-time territory Thursday, a sign that strength in many retailers may help the major averages continue to rally this week.
Oil Services ($OSX +1.17%) and the tech sector led the way higher on Friday. The tech sector was led higher by the Networking ($NWX +0.90%) and Internet ($DOT +0.87%) indexes, with additional gains from the Semiconductor ($SOX +0.85%) and Software ($GSO +0.83%) indexes helping the cause. The influential Broker/Dealer ($XBD +0.33%), Bank ($BKX +0.26%), and Biotech ($BTK +0.13%) indexes ended with modest gains. Meanwhile, the Retail ($RLX -0.11%), Healthcare ($HMO -0.27%), Integrated Oil ($XOI -0.34%), and Gold & Silver ($XAU -1.57%) indexes lagged on what was a mostly positive session..
