Stocks Fade in Afternoon Trade
- Kenneth J. Gruneisen, CANSLIM Certified, Registered Principal, Source Capital Group, Inc. (Members NASD, SIPC)

The major averages slid in the afternoon after trading up most of the session. Volume, a critical component of institutional demand, swelled on both major exchanges. Breadth was negative as decliners led advancers by a 19-to-13 ratio on the NYSE and by nearly a 17-to-13 ratio on the null exchange. The total number of new 52-week highs trumped new 52-week lows on the NYSE and on the Nasdaq exchange. There were 67 high-ranked companies from the CANSLIM.net Leaders List that made new 52-week highs and appeared on the CANSLIM.net BreakOuts Page, up slightly from the 65 stocks that appeared on the prior session.
