Funny Money Friday: Using Bureau Powers For Good

Money doesn&39;t have to be boring! Each week, CreditBloggers.com takes a look at the lighter side of the personal finance world in a series called Funny Money Friday.

It&39;s been a rough week for me. I have a new upstairs neighbor who only sleeps two hours a night. The rest of the time he watches MTV loudly and moves furniture around in circles. Not great, even for someone who is usually a deep sleeper like myself.

I talked to him again last night about the noise and he mentioned that he has a police file thick with noise complaints and that he had been sued for noise violations in the past. Fantastic! Why didn&39;t my landlord check for this sort of thing before he moved in?

Landlord credit checks have become increasingly common. But honestly, there&39;s not much you can learn about a potential renter from their credit history. Sure, you can see how good they are about paying their bills on time, but that&39;s about it. It would be great if someone created a tenant history bureau that consolidated credit history with police records and previous landlord commentary.

This started me brainstorming other problems that could be potentially solved by a reporting bureau solution. The internet has already created a few systems along these lines. Sites like Yelp.com work as a type of credit reporting agency, gathering and distributing opinions about restaurants and stores. F*$%^ed Company does the same thing for employers. And I remember hearing about a website that collected reports on ex boyfriends and girlfriends for the assistance of their future love interests (although I can&39;t seem to find it anywhere).

What is your favorite non-traditional credit bureau? What do you wish there was a reporting agency for? Share your feedback in the comments section below. Happy Friday!
