Pride and the Extended warranty?
Posted on 09/25/2006 00:00 AM | Link | Post Comment
I got a swift kick in the rear about why Pride is one of the Seven Deadly sins, this weekend.
Pride! Yes, here I was smuggly proud of myself for getting my extended warranty on the van, we were getting all this work done, oh so proud of myself I was, well Karma is a nasty concept.
The van died in Montreal Sunday morning (well it won't start), just as I was about to take 5 young ladies to their final basketball game of the weekend. It took 90 minutes to get the road side assistance guys to show up, and by then, we found the module that was loose in the engine compartment, that most likely broke. Service guy tried boosting didn't work, so he was going to take it to the dealership, but wait, the dealerships are closed on Sundays, and in Montreal they all have GATES. So he was going to drop it outside of those gates and hope it would be there on Monday. Oh, hmmm, not good, ok he drops it in my parents driveway, where it sits dead awaiting service. I had to rent a van to get the young ladies home, but I couldn't get anywhere near the gym, because of an Allouettes game. Park illegally close by, figure I can get them in 10 minutes, nope, got lost, finally got back, $50 parking fine. Finally everyone got home around 5:00 PM, and now I need to figure out how to get a rental back to Montreal, get my van fixed and back here, and what I did to the cosmos to cause this horrible karmic schism!
What does this have to do with Finances? Well, maybe you should check all work done on your car before you sign anything? Pride is a bad thing, even in Finance? Yes, it's a rant by me, but I pity the people who had to talk to me on Sunday, I wasn't very nice I don't think.
