$1.11 Per Liter Gasoline And Other Opinions

Posted on 05/18/2007 11:47:49 | Link | Post Comment
Last night I figured I'd wait until this morning to fill up and instead of paying $1.07 a liter I got to pay $1.11 per liter instead. Just goes to show my brain was not thinking or I would have remembered that this is a long weekend, and the Friday is when the price is usually the highest, and I should have got some gas last night (I have given up filling up, I can't bring myself to do it these days). In the words of Tony Soprano, "What are you gonna do?".

An interesting story about how bloggers (the A-list guys, not the minors like me) can influence the financial world. Applegate erupted when Engadget made a post about how the iPhone may be late and sited as a source an internal Apple e-mail they received, and this caused the Apple stock to crash and Apple lost almost $4Billion worth of Market Capitalization (i.e. of outstanding stock * stock price), and as you can see on the attached graph, the drop was quite dramatic. This would be a "coup" for blogs to have posted this information, however, it turned out to be false (whoops, guess that is why printed media wants their reporters to check their sources), but Apple's market cap is still lower in the aftermath of Applegate. Just goes to show you can't believe everything you read (on OTHER blogs, at least).

It's a long weekend coming up here in the frozen tundra of the Nation's Capital, but there may be a few posts coming up, stay tuned. The web site might disappear for a short period, as I am attempting a little "home rennovation" as well, but don't worry, we shall return!
