Plans For South Boston Electricity Plant Will Go Absolutely Nowhere
Without a doubt, the Old Boston Edison electricity plant near the corner of Summer and East First streets is one of the ugliest buildings in the city.
Apparently, someone has floated the idea of closing down the plant and putting a condominium or hotel development on the site.
That's a ridiculous idea, and I can't imagine any developer considering the idea, seriously.
Horrible location. Terribly high cost of construction.
The list of negatives is an arm long.
Tear down the plant, to be sure, but the only thing that could probably go in its place is ... another power plant?
