You can't find a better New England city than Marlborough, Massachusetts.

I guess.

Anyway, a new loft project called Renaissance Lofts was profiled in today's Globe.

Renaissance Lofts sits near downtown, in a neighborhood of single-family homes, auto body shops, and storefront churches. There are other hints of renewal in the city. A nearby old armory building was recently bought at auction by a developer and there has been talk about condos.

Units start at $235,000 for 1,300 square feet. Some apartments span two floors. Others include basement work space. A handful with special features or private deck space are priced at $400,000 to $500,000.

The developer (apparently, an architect) seems to have done a great job of turning an old mill into 29 lofts, each with a distinct design and layout. The building will include a 3600 square foot artist gallery on the first floor (it's for sale for $500,000, according to MLS).

Occupancy is scheduled for late summer, 2007.

Marlborough is a great place to live, I recommend you all check it out.

The town is notable for being the birthplace or home to many famous Americans, including Horatio Alger, writer (and accused child molester), and Marcia Cross, actress, among others.
