Live Nation Puts Its Theater Business Up For Sale
I didn't see anything about this in a Boston newspaper, but why would I? It only takes place right in our city.
Live Nation, the country’s largest subscription series for touring theatrical performances and owner (or operator) of 13 performing arts centers, has put its business up for sale.
Live Nation runs the "Broadway Across America" subscription series, and the "Broadway Across Boston" series here in Boston (I think local impresario Jonathan Platt has a hand in it, not sure who owns what, actually).
Live Nation was once Pace Theatricals, then SFX Entertainment, then was bought by Clear Channel, back at the turn of this century.
The company owns the Opera House (and, I think, part of the Colonial Theater). Apparently, they will be holding onto these buildings, while selling the rest of the business.
