Changes coming to Boston and Brookline developments
Two quick pieces of news.
First, Children's Hospital has announced it is looking to buy up all of Brookline Place, having just acquired 102,000 square feet of space at the mixed-use project, for almost $60 million.
The hospital is in negotiations to buy the rest of the Brookline complex, which includes another 105,000 square feet of space at 2-4 Brookline Place and 5 Brookline Place. The complex is steps from the Brookline Village T stop.
The office buildings, located on Washington and Pearl streets, are a short walk from the Longwood Medical and Academic Area.
This area is undergoing a great revitalization. Brewery Lofts, the somewhat dormant condo conversion and new building project going up around the corner, is about to embark on a major marketing and sales push, as construction gears up for a March 2007 completion.
Also big in the news today is that Taj hotels has bought the Ritz-Carlton Boston, for $170 million. The new owners will rebrand the hotel. Taj, an Indian company (not from the UAE, surprisingly!) recently bought The Pierre, in New York City.
