Joint Venture Into Drug-eluting Stents

Birmingham, AL-based Brookwood Pharmaceuticals and Targeted Technology Ventures of San Antonio, TX, are teaming up to create a new drug-eluting stent, reports Birmingham Business Journal.
The two companies will do so under a newly formed company called Aeon Biosciences, which is charged with developing a more effective coating than the ones used on currently available stents that have been shown to cause more blood clots than bare metal ones.
According to the Journal, funding for Aeon was secured through Greer Capital Advisors’ Birmingham Technology Fund.
