Aquasonix Therapy Hits Hospitals And Rehab Centers

AquaSonix Therapy, a treatment program that combines sound pressure waves with low impact exercise in a warm water pool, is being made available to hospitals, rehab centers and other professional medical facilities.
The therapy is designed to treat a variety of pain sources, including ostearthritis, musculoskeletal injuries, and back pain. The sound pulses work on the central nervous system by stimulating the mechanoreceptors located in the skin.
Until now, HealthSonix (HSXI.PK), the Irvine, CA, developer of the program — made possible by a device that uses sound pressure waves to administer sub-sensory micro vibration to the human body — was only offering AquaSonix through company-owned and operated treatment centers. Widespread availablity should mean a bump in revenue.
Each device costs $19,995, which includes a training program for therapists, and access to HealthSonix’s patient management software system. The company says it expects revenue to come in the form of sales and ongoing service required on the installed systems.
