eMini - Fad or Future?

In my opinion, we definitely have more microwave than hula-hoop on our hands. I haven't seen a lot of blogs here dealing with the eMini, so perhaps I can shed a tad of light on the subject.

Why IS the eMini becoming so popular? We live in a fast paced, fast food, "I want what I want and I want it NOW" society. Yet in spite of this hi-tech driven fantasy world we've created, with instant gratification only a mouse click away , deep down, we all have a primordial hunger for simplicity. The simple things.

The eMini offers all the above, under one roof. Hedge Fund managers, professional traders, and Wall Street's brightest already know this. They also wish you didn't. That's really why I'm writing this. I love storming the temple and turning over a few tables whenever I can.

The eMini futures contract, be it S&P, Dow, or Russell, will become the great equalizer. The playing field is about to be leveled like never before. No longer will the small investor be handicapped as in the past. Those vast libraries of historical research, compiled at a cost of billions of dollars, and funded by you, you, you, and me, are on the verge of becoming meaningless. Pointless. The fodder of late night stand up comics working for beers and jeers.

Price is King. Always has been, always will be. We just couldn't see it because of all the smoke being blown up our collective chimneys. Research has become nothing more than a toss-up between a fond memory and a trip to the palm reader. Always has been, always will be. We just couldn't see it because of all the smoke being blown up our collective chimneys. Starting to get the picture?

How simple is the eMini? At the risk of over simplification, try this. Pull up a chart on the Russell eMini. The time frame is up to you. Just make it intra-day, use minutes or ticks, it really doesn't matter. Toss in a 50 period moving average. I know you have some sophisticated tools in your arsenal. Mac D's, RSI's, Keltner, Wilder, etc... Just humor me for a moment and let 'em rest.

As you can see, other than the CURRENT price, everything else is simply noise.

If the comments warrant it, I'll continue this thread. I'll get into the tax benefits, how the daytrading minimum balance of $25k doesn't apply and how there is no up-tick rule for a south bound campaign. It is also worth noting as I close - "Trading is risky and you can lose ALL your money".

And now, let me end this column with a great big "Shout-Out" to my friend Greg who gave me my very first glance of the Future. Thx Greg!
